Description
This beauty may be named Queen, it is likely a male. 90% of Queen butterflies seen on the Gregg's mistflower are males. When they imbibe, they are taking in a natural compound which converts to a pheromone to attract the females. The compound is also toxic to predators and thus protects her eggs. Nature is fascinating!
