This male golden-fronted woodpecker appears to be posing for the camera. He was located on a private ranch in the Rio Grande Valley area of Texas where the species is abundant.

I am a Texas photographer with a focus on the amazing wonder and beauty in nature. Texas is such a great place for photography because it is so vast and diverse--from beaches to mountains and just about everything in between! I hope to photograph as much of it as possible while paying close attention to the beauty I find close to home, both in the great and the small.
